Introduction

INTRODUCTION

From the strengths and weaknesses detailed in Task 1, and the results of the tests carried out in Task 2, I have developed a two week training plan for both Stuart and Daniel.  Stuart’s program will focus on his physiological weaknesses (aerobic endurance, agility and speed), his tactical awareness, and his most concerning technical weakness: footwork.  Daniel’s program will also aim to develop his stamina and tactical awareness, as well as his goal shooting technique and defensive play.  I have produced a development plan based upon targets agreed upon by the athletes and myself, which will provide the basis of the coaching plans.
Most athletes training programmes are broken into periods designed to bring about a peak in performance at a certain time (for example, World Championships), this is known as periodization.  As both Stuart and Daniel’s training programmes last for two weeks and feature detailed sessions on a targeted area this phase of training is the micro-cycle (Bullock, 2013).
